First of all how to mod for windows: 1)download your mod. 2) make sure you have read the installation directions carefully 3)specify if your need to place said mod in minecraft.jar or the mods folder. 4)open your start menu 5)type in the search bar "%appdata%" no qoutes. 6) navigate to the .minecraft file 7) now there is the mods file obviously for mods that say drop in the mods file, if thats so your process ends here. 8) there will also be a bin folder. 9) now inside this folder there will be a executable jar file that is named minecraft. 10) right click the jar and select open with winrar. 11)now once you open the jar is you've never modded your minecraft, which im Rearuming you haven't if your reading this tip, there will be a Meta-Inf 12) Delete the Meta-inf file 13) insert modloader/Forge API 14) then insert mod 15) Run minecraft! 16) YAY WORKING MODS! 17) if you are still having throuble getting a mod working inbox me!

Today's quick tip: What i do to make the modding process shorter in case you have an epic fail with your mods.
first you will want to copy your executable jarfile named minecraft.jar in the bin located in your .minecraft file in your roaming file located in the start menu by searching %appdata%
next paste that sucker on your desktop and rename it Backup Now you should have a backup jar with all of your working crap in it in case a mod crashes your minecraft
